Frequently asked questions
Order
I'm afraid to order
Don’t stress! Contacting me doesn’t commit you to anything! We can discuss your order idea. If necessary, we can adjust the project to suit your budget. As long as you don’t sign a quotation, everything is free of charge.
Creation time
Creation times vary according to your order.
If you need to receive your order before a specific date, it’s best to let me know at the outset.
Please note that beyond production, drying and shipping times. Above all, I need to have room in my schedule for your project. As I’m sometimes out in the field for several months at a time, I recommend that you contact me well in advance.
How much does an illustration cost?
My rates are influenced by the time required, the technique used, the level of detail and the complexity of the subject. They can also vary according to inflation, changes in social security contributions and taxes induced by my freelance status.
It’s virtually impossible to create a price list. Note that an order will rarely cost less than 90€ (excluding shipping).
Here are just a few examples:
- Digital delivery: black-and-white drawing of a realistic animal bust: 90€
- Original black-and-white drawing of an entire realistic animal: 120€
- Original A4 watercolor representing 1 entire stylized animal with an object on an abstract background: 230€
- Original A4 watercolor representing 2 animals that do not interact with each other realistically represented in their entirety with a landscape: 550€
If you wish to use the illustration for public or commercial purposes, you’ll also need to pay for exploitation rights.
What is the "mat option"?
For illustrations smaller than A3, you can opt for a mat, also known as a “mount”.
A mat has several purposes:
- To enhance the work: It is added to the frame to give a more finished look. It can also be used in place of a frame if you simply wish to place the work under glass.
- Protect the work: The thick passe-partout prevents the glass of the frame and the paper from touching. It also prevents the color from sticking to the green over time
- Facilitate framing: If you don’t want to have a frame made to measure, the passe-partout is ideal, as it adapts to standard frame sizes sold in stores.
- Enhance the object if it’s a gift: It will have a better effect when the gift is opened.
I cut the mats myself and offer several colors.
If you’re interested, just ask me.
The mat option costs about 8€.
I don't live in France, can I order from you?
Yes, you can. Please note, however, that you will be responsible for any additional charges for payment from abroad, as well as any customs fees (for shipment to the USA, for example).
Will I receive an invoice for my order?
I always issue an invoice for each order. But in order to limit paper printing, invoices are not sent with the order. If you’d like an invoice, just ask me and I’ll send it to you by email.
Are the prices with or without vat?
I am a French artist-author. As such, I am not subject to VAT under art. 293 B CGI. Quotations are therefore quoted “exclusive of tax”, but no tax is applied.
Payment
How do I pay?
If you are a private individual, you will need to pay for your order before shipment. You can pay via Paypal, bank transfer or check. Details of payment methods will be provided when I send you the quote.
Is it possible to pay in instalments?
No. But if you wish, I can keep the creation you’ve ordered until you’re ready to pay.
Shipment
Why is shipping so expensive?
I make no profit on shipping costs.
In the delivery cost, I include the cost of packaging.
By default, letters in envelopes (maximum A3) are sent with the “delivery with signature” option.
Parcels (including illustrations larger than A3) are sent with the “delivery with signature” option and minimum insurance (i.e. €50 compensation). More extensive insurance is available on request.
How does insured shipping work?
If you’d like insurance to cover the cost of your order, simply ask me and tick the option for a fee when you sign the quotation.
Always check the condition of the package carefully on receipt. If you notice any damage, have it officially recorded by the deliveryman.
I received my order damaged
I always pack my creations with the utmost care. Only once in 5 years has a customer received a damaged parcel. Unfortunately, there is no such thing as zero risk. If it happens to you :
- For an envelope: contact me by e-mail with photos, and we’ll find a solution.
- For a parcel: take out insurance, have the deliveryman officially note the damage to the parcel, take photos… Contact me by e-mail with photos, and we’ll find a solution.
What about customs fees?
Customs fees are sometimes charged when a work is shipped.
They depend on the value of the parcel and the laws in force in the destination country/territory.
You are responsible for these charges, which may be requested prior to receipt of the parcel.
Discussions / interaction
I've written to you, but I haven't had a reply
I’m sometimes on field missions abroad with little or no internet (visit the “about” page to find out more), so you’ll have to be patient.
Having said that, it’s possible that your message is in my spam folder, so don’t hesitate to repeat your message or to contact me via a social network…
Environment
Packing
I make every effort to limit the use of non-recyclable plastics when sending. I also favor compostable paper and cardboard. I also reuse boxes and paper whenever possible.
However, the packaging is always carefully designed and aesthetically pleasing.
Action for the Planet
I’m very interested in your conservation or environmental education projects. If you’re an environmental or non-profit association, we can discuss an agreement that suits your budget.
